Organic Modern Holiday Mantel
This past year we remodeled our kitchen and living room. I still need to show you how the kitchen turned out! But, during that project, we replaced our old fireplace with a larger insert that fits this great room better. With that new insert, came a new mantel and I couldn’t wait to decorate it for the holidays!
The mantel is a cast stone mantel from DreamCast. We chose the French Country mantel in the chalk limestone finish and overall I love the final look.
Here is a before and after of the fireplace and mantel. So, you can see what a big difference the new insert makes. And it makes our space so much more warm and cozy!
This year my holiday decor is all about being simple and sparkly. The Christmas tree is adorned with dozens of disco balls that cast a beautiful reflection in the room.
And this organic modern holiday mantel is one of the simplest mantels I have done for Christmas. Overall I think my style keeps getting more pared down as I get older. But, when I approach decorating with a less-is-more attitude, I am always happiest with the end result.
How To Create An Organic Modern Holiday Mantel
I always get asked where our garland is from. I purchased it from McGee & Co. 4 years ago. But, it’s no longer sold! I love how long it is (9 ft) and how lush the greenery is. Also, it’s pre-lit and plugs in which is the best way to go in my opinion. I have the cord running down the side of the mantel and secured (mostly) out of sight with small command hooks.
Draping the greenery on the mantel asymmetrically automatically gives it an organic modern feel for Christmas. I use command hooks on the top of the mantelpiece to hold the greenery in place. Since this is the first year with the cast stone mantel I still have to see if the command hooks will damage the painted finish. So, fingers crossed!
Additionally, I wound 2 star garlands through the garland. 1 sparkly silver one and another brass one. I will link everything at the bottom of the post to make it easier for you!
The knit stockings add a cozy vibe to this holiday mantel. We have collected them over the years from various stores (Anthro, Homegoods and Etsy). And the stocking tags are a DIY that I made a few years ago and still absolutely adore! You can see all the details on how to make them HERE.
One of my favorite things to include in my holiday decor each year is a beautiful piece of artwork from Lindsay Letters. This year, I chose the Ivory Swan canvas and I just love how simple yet elegant it is! Of course all of Lindsay’s artwork is gorgeous. And you can choose a print or canvas for all pieces. Use code MODERNGLAM for 20% off your purchase.
On the other side of the mantel I put 5 glass candlesticks with my favorite flameless candles. The candlesticks are subtle and give that organic modern touch to this holiday mantel decor.
Thank you for stopping by! Let me know what you think of this year’s organic modern holiday mantel. And have a very Merry Christmas! Xx
