Dress up your holiday packages with this natural gift wrapping idea. Brown paper packages tied up with string…and salt dough gift tags too!
A few weeks ago I made these Gingerbread Salt Dough Ornaments. They are super easy and I decided it would be so fun to also use them as gift tags for my christmas packaging this year.
I’ll show you how easy it is create this natural gift wrapping. It’s so fun to make up a batch of these salt dough gift tags for your holiday packages!
Natural Gift Wrapping Idea
Each year I like to coordinate our christmas gift wrapping with the overall decorations in our living room. This year, with our Cozy Minimalistic Christmas, I wanted to use kraft paper as the paper and cream yarn as the string.
A natural gift wrapping idea that is perfectly neutral, cozy and super easy too!
I used the same yarn and pom poms that I used last year for my Pom Pom Gift Wrapping Idea and tied them on to gifts wrapped in natural kraft paper. I varied a few packages and tied some with cream silk ribbon and used a white paint pen to write the recipients name directly on the paper.
Salt Dough Christmas Gift Tags
When I was making my Gingerbread Salt Dough Ornaments, I thought it would be so cute to also make some of the ornaments into gift tags. After all, the holes were already there ready to be strung with ribbon!
So I have a jar of decorated snowflakes and gingerbread men salt dough ornaments next to our wrapping station. It is so easy to add the recipients name to the ornament using a white paint pen.
You can find all the details for how to make the salt dough and decorate them in my Salt Dough Ornament Post.
Once you have the name written on the gift tag, string some ribbon or twine through the hole and tie on your natural gift wrapping.
I like to wrap the present first, add all the ribbon and then tie the gift tag on last.
For this natural gift wrapping, I added a piece of thick cream yarn, two different sized pom poms and a gold bell. I love the cozy texture the yarn adds to the utilitarian feel of the kraft paper.
How cute is that? And I love that it is something your recipient can keep for years to come and hang on their tree!

Adorable, Ashley … love the wrap and the cute cookie tags. I’d love to do something similar this year … but first, I have to buy the gifts. Uh oh! Your tree is amazing … I’ve pinned it 50 times. Gorgeous. xo
