Our Cozy Christmas Mantel
Where do you get your inspiration when you decorate for the holidays? For me, it usually starts with a feeling. This year for Christmas I wanted my home to feel simple and clean, but also cozy and a place to come home to at the end of each day.
2020 is different for all of us. Some of us are working from home, some of us are quarantining at home and others have jobs that require us to work outside the home.
Oh and let’s not forget those of us with kids conducting school at home! Oh boy. Our homes have become more important to us more than ever.
So, this Christmas more than ever, I want our home to feel relaxing and cozy for our family. A place where we can spend time together in the evenings surrounded by a peaceful and relaxing environment. I want our home to feel like a giant, warm hug.
This cozy Christmas fireplace is where we tend to gather after dinner each night. Whether it’s playing games, watching a Christmas movie, or taking a nap by the fire, this is one of our favorite spots.
A few years ago we replaced our wood burning fireplace with this gas insert and I love how it heats up the whole room but eliminates the need for any boy scout skills.
We do miss the smell of the logs burning, but after the past few years living so close to the fires in California, we can do without that smell!

Mantel With Asymmetrical Garland
To create this cozy Christmas mantel, I started with a 9 foot prelit garland. It is hard to find a garland that long and I was excited when I got this one. And it is lit with tiny micro fairy LED lights similar to my Christmas tree.
I placed the garland on the mantel and attached it to the left corner using a nail. Then I draped it across to the other side and let it hang off to the right.
I sort of tucked the edge back in the corner of the mantel and let the excess fall over the edge. And that basket is hiding the cord that plugs into the wall. It also adds to the cozy Christmas mantel vibes!
By placing the garland on the mantel asymmetrically it leaves the perfect spot for hanging the stockings. I hung our four stockings using small nails under the mantelpiece. I have tried command hooks, but they always end up falling off.
Minimalist Holiday Mantel
I chose not to add anything to the garland and to keep this mantel pretty simple and minimal.
A few vintage brass candlesticks mixed with these new handmade wooden ones create an eclectic vibe.
And I found the best battery operated LED candles with a remote control and timer! Because, let’s be honest, as much as I love real taper candles, they are a total mess when they drip all over.
Green and White Christmas Decor
The highlight of this cozy Christmas mantel has to be this artwork from my favorite Lindsay Letters. I knew as soon as I saw this Balsam & Berries abstract print that it would set the tone for my entire holiday decor.
I look forward to Lindsay releasing her holiday collection every year. And I have been collecting her artwork for over 6 years.
I layered my new artwork over my Gleaming Primrose mirror and added this Christmas No. 25 print. This is one of my first pieces that I bought from Lindsay Letters and I use it every year. I love that her artwork is timeless and goes with any style.
This cozy Christmas mantel came together with just a few items and less than 30 minutes. And it’s a look that I know I am going to love all season long. I may even keep it up past New Year’s. 😉
