Decorate your Christmas tree with a Scandinavian style, focusing on style but keeping it minimal and natural!
Scandinavian Inspired Christmas Tree Decor
I have always loved the look of those simple, Scandinavian style Christmas trees and decor. And this year, I have felt the urge to pare down my decor and keep it simple.
And let me tell you, it has felt liberating! I even organized and donated a ton of old holiday decor that I am not going to use anymore. And a lucky Instagram follower got a beautiful flocked tree and 2 boxes of ornaments from my Rose Gold Christmas tree!
2020 for me has been about simplifying my decor and making my home a bit of a sanctuary from the outside world. This has been a roller coaster year and I want to end it with a calming and peaceful home.
So, this Scandinavian Christmas tree decor feels absolutely perfect. Perfect for this time in my life and really reflects what my heart is searching for. Peace, simplicity and a bit of beauty too.
Minimalist Christmas Tree
I purchased this Christmas tree this year. I wanted a natural colored faux tree and this one fit the bill. My number one complaint with the new artificial christmas trees has to do with the LED lights. They can be yellow, dim and just plain boring.
One of the main reasons I purchased this tree is because it comes with 800 micro fairy lights. And let me tell you, there is nothing dull, dim or boring about this tree. The lights are absolutely spectacular! I love all the tiny lights and they create the most beautiful glow in our living room.
Since the tree itself is so beautiful, I knew I had to keep the decorations on the minimal side.
A wood bead garland, some paper snowflakes, ceramic houses and a few glass ball ornaments is all it took to transform this tree into a Scandinavian style Christmas tree.
You can see the decorating process on my Instagram page, but it didn’t take more than 30 minutes. I swear I spent more time looking for those dang ornament hooks than I did decorating the tree this year. Why is it that I can never find them – every single year?!
The decorations on this Scandinavian Christmas tree are neutral and minimal, which saves time and costs less money too!
Oh and think of how easy the cleanup will be in January! Win win!

How To Decorate A Scandinavian Style Christmas Tree
If you want to decorate your Christmas tree with a Scandinavian inspired style, here are a few tips to get that look.
- Stick to a neutral color palette of whites and metallics.
- Use candles to mimic the northern lights.
- Use natural colored greenery.
- Don’t use too many ornaments. Let the natural greenery be the highlight.
- Incorporate wood tones to add warmth.
- Don’t overthink it and keep it simple!
For my Scandinavian inspired Christmas tree, I used a lot less ornaments that I normally would. I think this keeps the look and feel of the tree true to the Scandi style.
And I found the coolest LED candle string lights which are much safer (and easier) than the real version. Plus, I love the smaller size. It doesn’t overwhelm the tree.
A few paper snowflakes and some ceramic houses add to the rustic, minimal feel of this Scandinavian Christmas tree decor.
