Looking for a fresh and delicious new drink recipe for summer? This easy summer cocktail combines some of my favorite flavors for a light and refreshing drink. Check out how easy it is to whip up a few of these tasty drinks for summer!
Summer Vodka Cocktail Recipe
Each time I go to the grocery store, I pick up a few fresh staples that I know will always come in handy and can be used in a number of different recipes. Grapefruit, lemons, limes and fresh rosemary are just a few of the items I always seem to end up coming home with.
I love using grapefruit in skinny cocktail recipes. The slightly sweet, but tangy flavor of the citrus pairs well with the acidic nature of most alcohols.
A few weeks ago, I shared my skinny Paloma recipe and it has been on heavy rotation around here for happy hour. Since I am not a big tequila drinker, I thought I would remake the recipe and give it a spin by using vodka instead of tequila.
I found this Ketel One Grapefruit and Rose vodka a while back and I am a little obsessed. It has such a great flavor and pairs well with everything from fresh juice to something as simple as soda water. They have other flavors in this botanical line, but this grapefruit and rose is my favorite.
I knew it would be perfect for this summer cocktail recipe.
How To Make A Skinny Grapefruit Vodka Cocktail
For this recipe, I am using just 4 simple ingredients. Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed lemon juice, vodka and soda water. Oh, and a sprig of fresh rosemary. You could substitute this with fresh mint, thyme or whatever is growing in your herb garden. But the combination of rosemary and grapefruit is a match made in heaven.
For each summer cocktail, you will be using 1/2 of a grapefruit, 1/2 of a lemon, 2 ounces of vodka and a splash of soda. So, this recipe is easy to double and makes enough for you and a guest!
Make sure you are using fresh squeezed juice and not store bought. This really is an important step. You can really taste the difference!
And if you have an electric juicer, this recipe would be amazing to make a big batch for a party. You can have the juice and vodka pre-made and have guests top their glass with soda water when serving. Easy entertaining!
So, the first step is to squeeze the grapefruit and lemon. Pour in a glass over ice. Add the vodka and stir. You could also add this to a shaker to make it extra cold and refreshing!
Top with a fresh sprig of rosemary, a slice of lemon and a splash of soda. I like to use La Croix grapefruit flavored soda water. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Cheers!

Ashley, this looks super refreshing! I love grapefruit, sadly I don’t eat it as often as I want to, but now I’m definitely heading to the grocery store and buying some so I can make this!

Can you use just “regular” vodka, or does it need to be the Ketel Grapefruit and Rose vodka?
ashley
You can use any vodka. The flavored vodka just adds to the citrus taste. Enjoy!
Juliet
Yes, please to anything with rosemary. And, grapefruit and rose vodka … its on my shopping list! Cheers! xo
