My kids absolutely love Halloween. They can’t wait to decorate the house extra spooky and eat all the fun treats too! These Easy Halloween Cupcakes are simple to make and are definitely a huge hit with the kids too!
Make these easy Halloween cupcakes using your favorite chocolate cake recipe or save time and buy pre-made cupcakes at the grocery store! This recipe can be completely no-bake if you want it to.
Easy Halloween Cupcakes
I love to cook, bake and entertain. But I like all my recipes and ideas to be super simple and easy. As a working mom with young kids I don’t have time for elaborate recipes.
So, I wanted to share with you these super easy Halloween cupcakes. They are perfect for Halloween parties, whether it be for the classroom or for a pumpkin carving celebration!
I wanted something that could be put together in less than an hour. I made these cupcakes using this recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction. All of her recipes are so good and these chocolate cupcakes are no exception!
But, I love that you could easily buy some pre-made cupcakes at the grocery store and top them with these cute “tombstone” Milano cookies. Simple hacks that make mom life that much easier!
How To Make Tombstone Cupcakes
In order to make these cute and easy Halloween cupcakes, you will need the following supplies:
- Chocolate Cupcakes ( I used this recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction)
- Buttercream Frosting (try this one from AllRecipes.com)
- Milano Cookies. You will need one for each cupcake
- Black gel decorative icing
- Cute cupcake cups or liners
Once your cupcakes have cooled and you have frosted them, refrigerate for about an hour so the frosting is set. If the frosting is room temperature your tombstones may fall over!
Next, start creating the tombstones. Take a milano cookie and cut off the bottom 1/3 of the cookie. This makes a sturdier base to stick into the cupcake.
Once you have the bottoms flat, write a spooky message on the cookie. A few easy sayings I used were Eek, Boo and RIP. You will want to use the gel icing that is meant for writing and decorations. Let the writing sit for a few minutes before putting onto the cupcakes.
Now, stick the milano cookie “tombstones” into the top of each cupcake. A cute and super easy Halloween cupcake that will be a hit for any halloween party or get together!
