This DIY Eucalyptus garland is an easy centerpiece for spring. Made using a faux eucalyptus garland, this spring garland lasts longer and costs less than the real version!
As I get older (and maybe wiser – lol) I tend to find shortcuts that make my life a little more simple. This DIY Eucalyptus garland hack using a store-bought faux garland is definitely one of them!
DIY Eucalyptus Garland
By utilizing faux and real eucalyptus you save time and money but still have the look of the real thing!
I have been using this method in my decorating for a year now. You can see how I used this same technique for my Vintage Modern Holiday Table and for my Holiday Mantel garland as well.
How To Make A Eucalyptus Garland: Supplies
Let’s get started and make this DIY eucalyptus garland that is beautiful and simple to create! Here are the supplies you will need to make my version.
- Faux eucalyptus garland. I used one 6 ft length.
- Real eucalyptus clippings. Trader Joe’s usually has a great selection of fresh eucalyptus. I used 3 different types for variety.
- Fresh roses or other flowers of your choosing. This would be beautiful with peonies as well!
DIY Faux Eucalyptus Garland
Ok, the first step to making your DIY eucalyptus garland is to place the faux garland down the length of your table. I chose to give it some movement and bend allowing it to slightly curve.
In the image above you can see the faux garland before anything is added to it. I ordered a few different eucalyptus garlands and this one was by far the best. It is pretty full by itself and I like that it has dimension with different types of leaves and some seed clusters as well.
Fluff up your garland and straighten out any wonky leaves. Next we will start adding in clippings from the real eucalyptus branches.
Work in small sections and clip off 8-10″ pieces. Tuck them into the faux garland to add dimension and realness to this DIY eucalyptus garland.
I started with the silver dollar leaves, then added some seeded eucalyptus and finally finished with a few pieces of the cider gum because I liked the sage green color they add to this spring centerpiece.
Once you have the greenery placed, add a few roses to the DIY eucalyptus garland. I chose these pretty pale pink roses. I only needed 8 for the garland and I used the last four in a bud vase next to my bed.
Peel off any brown or shriveled petals and slightly open the rose up using your fingers. This will give it a more natural, garden feel.
Easy Spring Centerpiece
This is such an easy spring centerpiece. By using a faux eucalyptus garland as the base, this centerpiece comes together quickly with a few bunches of fresh eucalyptus.
Trader Joe’s has a wonderful selection and variety of fresh greens for a great price. You don’t have to secure the branches to the faux garland unless you will be using this for your mantel or doorway.
Simply tucking the branches into the faux garland works perfectly for your table.
Add a few candles or votives to the table and you are set! As you can see from my photos, I tried two looks. One with my vintage brass candlesticks and one using small glass votives. I am always so indecisive that I had to do both, lol!
How Long Will A Eucalyptus Garland Last?
This DIY eucalyptus garland can be made the day of your event. Since the branches are not in water, they will start to dry up and lose color within a day or so.
One thing I love about this garland hack, is that it’s easy to replace the branches with fresh ones if you choose to leave it up for more than a day or two.
Because the branches are just tucked into the faux garland, they are easy to swap out with fresh branches should you choose to leave it up longer.

Ashley it’s so hard to believe this is faux! It’s just beautiful and I can’t wait to try it myself…those pale roses are stunning too!

Ashley! I would have never thought any part of this was artificial. I’m usually opposed to fake, but I just ordered it, based on your review! Your table, your ghost chairs, and selection of dishes and glassware really highlight the eucalyptus, rose and votive garland centerpiece.
