Come see our Scandi Christmas home tour. And I’ll show you how to create a scandinavian themed christmas at home!
Our Scandinavian Christmas Home Tour
It’s home tour week on the blog! I love this time of year where we get to see a peek inside so many blogger’s homes. It gives me so much inspiration and tons of ideas. I hope it does for you too. Be sure to check back all week long as there are 6 homes being featured each day. You can find all the links below.
And if you are here from She Gave It A Go, welcome! So glad you are here!
But first, I want to share my Scandi Christmas home with you.
This year I wanted to create an old-world style holiday vibe, with some modern touches of course. I use soft textures, a simple color palette and lots of warm gold accents to create a holiday look that borrows a bit from the past. But, also has clean lines and the simplicity that Scandinavian style is known for.
Cozy Christmas Family Room
First stop on this tour is our Family Room. This is where we spend most of our time and where our main tree is. This newly painted shiplap wall is the perfect background to set a cozy, old-world tavern vibe. Paint color is Studio Green by Farrow & Ball.
I placed a faux evergreen garland on our mantel and draped it asymmetrically. I secured the garland with small nails and added four chunky knit stockings to one side. You can see all the details and sources for our mantel in this post: Elegant Holiday Mantel With Candlesticks.
Our tree is decorated very similar to last year with a few updates. I can’t wait to show you the full reveal later this week!
One of my favorite additions I made this year are these copper curtain lights. They make the coziest glow at night! Instant holiday vibes. I used two strands and hung them using command hooks on top of the window frame.
Part of decorating your home in a Scandi Christmas style is keeping things simple. Less is more when it comes to this style. For our built-ins that surround the TV, I did just that. A few ceramic houses and LED candles are all that is needed to make it feel cozy and festive.
Our Scandinavian Holiday Porch
Our front porch is one of my favorite spots to decorate for every holiday, but especially Christmas.
This year I created this Scandi Christmas vibe by hanging paper snowflakes that are lit by remote-controlled wireless LED puck lights. You can find all the details in this post: Our Scandinavian Christmas Porch.
I had so much fun creating this look and it may stay up long past Christmas!
How To Create A Scandi Christmas Theme At Home
Here are some tips if you are wanting to bring a bit of Scandi style Christmas into your home for the season. The best part is, there is no wrong or right way to do it. Make it your own and have fun!
Less is more
When creating that signature Scandi style Christmas, keep things simple. Pare down your usual decor. Bonus, this makes decorating (and cleaning up) much easier.
Add cozy, neutrals fabrics and textures
Cozy blankets, soft pillows, and sheepskin rugs are a great way to add soft textures without adding too much print or pattern to your space.
Add lots of twinkle and candle lights
Create instant Scandi holiday vibes with twinkle lights. Flameless candles are one of my favorite ways to create a no-fuss cozy holiday home as well.
Add lots of greenery
Greenery is signature way to decorate your home with Scandi style. Fresh or faux, add it to flat surfaces, around doorframes or in vases. I love how it instantly makes it feel like Christmas.
