Wrapping Baked Goods for Gifts: 2 Ways
The holidays are here and that means it’s also time for gift giving. One of my favorite things to give friends and neighbors is baked goods. With all the entertaining, no one turns down fresh baked desserts!
I also like to wrap the baked goods in a festive and unique way. Presentation is everything, right?
Here are two ways to wrap baked goods for the holidays. Both ways are fun and different. And I included a free printable gift tag that you can print out and tuck into your gift!
Note: I used this recipe for Gingerbread Bundt Cake and split the batter into two loaf pans (and baked them for 50 minutes) if you want to have a great source for the yummiest bread ever!
Furoshiki: Japanese Style Gift Wrapping
Last year I made a video showing how to wrap gifts with a piece of fabric or cloth. I loved wrapping up books, gift boxes or other presents using the Japanese style of gift wrapping called Furoshiki.
This unique gift wrapping works great with a loaf of bread or pound cake! You could also use this same technique and wrap a small box of cookies or candies.
Here I used a cloth tea towel to wrap my Gingerbread cake using the Furoshiki method. For this, you will need:
- wax or parchment paper
- tea towel or large napkin
- some fresh greenery
- gift tag. Print out my free Homemade Gingerbread gift tags at the bottom of this post.
I will walk you through the easy steps to wrapping baked goods for gifts using this Furoshiki method!
First, take your tea towel and fold the two ends into the middle.
Next, fold them inward again kind of like folding a bandanna.
Fold again. Once you have the desired size, fold a piece of wax or parchment paper a little larger than the width of the cloth.
Wrap the baked good with the wax paper and secure on the bottom with a piece of tape.
Next, place the bread in the middle of the towel. Pull both sides up and tie in a knot in the center of the bread or cake. Be careful not to pull too tight. You don’t want to squish your baked bread!
Now, tuck a piece of evergreen sprig (I used cedar from one of our trees) and use a small clothespin to secure the gift tag to one end of the towel.
The cutest gift wrapping for your baked goods and your recipient will be so happy with the added bonus of a pretty tea towel too!
How To Wrap Food As A Gift
Wrapping up homemade baked goods for gifts is all about the presentation. A simple and cost effective way of wrapping up food as a gift is by using wax paper or butcher paper.
You can wrap the entire food or fold the paper into a smaller size, wrapping around the bread or cake. Then add a beautiful ribbon. Simple, cheap and absolutely beautiful!
Holiday Gift Tag Free Printable
I have included both the red and green versions of my Homemade Gingerbread gift tag. Just click the link and print out the file using your home printer. I printed my tags onto cardstock paper and simply cut out the tags.
Each file includes 4 gift tags on a page and I included a space on the gift tag for your to fill out your name.
