Create a beautiful fall porch this autumn with these tips and inspiring ideas. I will show you how I added real pumpkins and mums to my porch for simple fall decor!

Fall is my favorite time to decorate the front porch. And creating a beautiful fall porch is pretty easy during the autumn months!

By using natural elements such as cornstalks, real pumpkins and mums, adding a little dose of fall to your home can be done in just a few minutes.

How To Create A Beautiful Fall Porch

Last year I shared with you my Neutral Fall Porch with Pumpkins and Cornstalks. But over the past year my style has evolved, as does most things in my life. My style has become a bit simpler and more edited. Don’t get me wrong, last year’s beautiful fall porch was one of my favorites!

And when I asked you guys on Instagram how I would top it, most responded that I should replicate it, in a slightly tweaked version. That got me thinking, why do I always feel the need to do something totally and completely different each year?

So, when I went to our local nursery to pick up some cornstalks, they didn’t have any! I was slightly freaking out. But then I started putting out the pumpkins and the big potted mums and took a step back and loved the simplicity of it!

Once I added my favorite copper LED lights to the stacks of pumpkins, I was in love! Isn’t it funny how twinkle lights can instantly make things feel more magical?

And do you want to know the best part? It took me less than 15 minutes to decorate this front porch. Last year’s porch took me multiple trips to the store and a week to get to where I loved the look.

Sometimes, less is more. And this beautiful fall porch this year was so simple and absolutely supports the less is more theory!

How To Decorate For Fall Outdoors

Decorating for fall outdoors is my favorite place to add fresh pumpkins, mums and seasonal pillows and throws.

I really like to add cozy sitting areas so we can enjoy the short period of fall weather here in California. We only get a few weeks where the weather is perfectly fall.

We love enjoying cool autumn evenings here on our front porch, especially when it’s decorated for fall!

When Should You Decorate For Fall

If you are using fresh pumpkins, it is best to decorate for fall outdoors beginning in late September. It also depends on where you live.

But generally, you will want to wait until the summer heat is over before placing real pumpkins on your front porch. Mums can also be pretty finicky if the weather is too hot.

Tips for Creating A Beautiful Fall Porch

Here are a few simple and easy ways to create a beautiful porch for your fall home.

• Choose a simple color scheme. It is so easy to allow nature to take the course during fall.
• Use real pumpkins when available. Pumpkins come in a multitude of colors that allow you to play off your color scheme.
• Create an outdoor sitting area with seasonal throws and pillows. Fall is such a great time to enjoy the cooler weather.
• Stack pumpkins to create different heights.
• Add mums or other seasonal flowers to add color and texture.
• Use a fall doormat or make your own!
• Add some twinkle lights!

So, when in doubt, go for the less is more approach. Decorating your beautiful fall porch can be easy if you let nature lead the way. After all, the colors of autumn are so rich and vibrant! Happy fall!
