Fall home decor trends for 2021 and what I’m buying now to decorate my home for the season ahead.
Fall Home Decor Trends for 2021
It’s still summer but my mind is already thinking about fall (eek)! I’ve been paying attention to what is coming on the market and what I’m seeing for home decor trends 2021 and fall. Here are the top trends that I am loving and what I am buying to add to my home for fall and winter.
Table of Contents
Earth Tones

Brown is the new grey. All the cool toned accents are headed in the opposite direction. Browns, taupes, greens and everything in between is coming back in fashion. And there is no better time to introduce these colors than fall. Warm up your space and make it feel instantly cozier with earth tones.
Color!

The all-white look is on it’s way out. I have to wrap my mind around this and start introducing color back into my home. I always decorate with a few pops of color, but not a lot. So, you will see me dipping my toes into adding color back into our spaces.
I started earlier this year by painting our bedroom Graphite by Benjamin Moore. And I’m testing out dark paint colors for the shiplap in our living room. You will see me start to add more and more color to my home this year.
And adding color doesn’t mean you have to go overboard. Muted, warm tones are popular for fall and this is an easy way to add color to your room.
Home Decor Trend 2021: Muted Florals

Floral has been a big trend in fashion for a few seasons now. And I am loving these pillows that I just ordered for my living room. Floral prints and patterns are a great way to add a collected look to your space. Floral fabric feels a bit nostalgic and vintage. And I am loving the tonal idea of these pillows.
If you don’t want to commit to new throw pillows for your space, you could add some floral with a piece of art as well.
Brass

Gold is here to stay. Brass accents add a warm, timeless vibe to home decor. And this home decor trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. There are so many great ways to add brass to your home as an accent. Think: picture frames, bookends, cabinet pulls, candlesticks. The options are limitless!
Warm Wood Tones & Textures
From rattan to caning, adding warm wood textures to your fall home decor is effortless. I just purchased this rattan tray and I love the dusty gray frame paired with the caned bottom. It’s the perfect spot for a cozy fall candle and a stack of magazines or books.

Black Accents Home Decor Trend
Black is definitely having a moment in the design world right now. You can easily add a few black accents through swapping out accessories like candlesticks, lamps or the frame on your art.

Another great idea is with paint. Have you considered painting your interior doors black as a way to update your space? I love how Chris Loves Julia did this as an alternative to changing out all their doors.
Black accents add a moodier and more modern aesthetic to a room and I love it!
What I’m Buying Now To Decorate For Fall
It’s no secret that fall is my favorite season. I can’t wait to decorate for the season and I am planning and shopping now to create a cozy, beautiful space. Above is the mood board I created to help me bring my vision to life. And here are the pieces that I have bought so far.
I just picked up a few new pillows for fall. This floral one I have had my eye on for a while now and I can’t wait to add it to my sofa.
I got two of these ottomans and I love the leather trim and warm neutral of the fabric!
This rattan tray is so well made and a really great find!

The home decor trends for 2021 give me a bit of direction, but I don’t always follow the trends. And just because something is now considered “on trend” this doesn’t mean you have to change the entire look of your space. Maybe it will give you some inspiration if you are looking for a way to update your space.
I like to reuse and reimagine many items that I already own. But, purchasing a few new finds will help my home feel a bit different this year. With the addition of a moodier, accent wall, I will be bringing in richer hues. And I am excited to add some soft florals as well!
Here is what my home looked like last fall: Fall Home Tour. And I hope that with a few new pieces (and some paint) my space will feel fresh and new this year. Stay tuned!
