Come see our cozy kitchen decorated for Christmas! This room gets an extra dose of cheer for the holidays and I’m showing you how to make your kitchen feel cozy and inviting for the season.
The kitchen really is the heart of the home. It’s where we gather for meals, do schoolwork and watch a few holiday movies this time of year. I love making our kitchen feel extra cozy, warm and inviting during the Christmas season.
With the shorter days, it’s all about adding a little hygge to the kitchen. I’ll share some of my ideas with you so maybe it will inspire you to do the same in your home!
Our Cozy Christmas Kitchen
We’ve decked the halls and fa la la la! Our house is feeling festive and fun but also cozy and warm. Since we are spending more time at home these days, I think it’s extra important to make our spaces feel peaceful, calm and cozy too.
Since winter is upon us and the days are growing shorter, we seem to spend more time in the kitchen. I don’t know if it’s because I feel like I am always cooking or baking, but we tend to gather here the most these days.
Now, before we get to the full tour, check out these other beautiful spaces decorated for the holidays!

Cozy kitchen Nook
Ok, I can’t wait to share how Christmas looks in our cozy kitchen this year!
We have this small sitting area right off our kitchen. It’s one of our favorite spots to sit in the evenings. I placed our Alpine Balsam Fir here in the corner and the twinkle lights sure do make this space feel festive.
I decorated the tree with a dried orange garland, wood bead garland and these Gingerbread Salt Dough ornaments. You can see how to make them in my blog post.
Since this area is right off our kitchen, the kids love to watch movies while I make dinner and I can be found sitting here more often than not during the day while the kids are doing their schoolwork. Now that it’s decorated for the season, I love it even more!
In our kitchen dining nook, I added a few glass jars filled with sugar and gingerbread houses. This year it seems I am all about the gingerbread, lol!
I took a few of my mini Gingerbread House mug toppers and added them to these jars. I love the simplicity and if you open up the canister, it smells amazing!
Christmas Kitchen Decor Ideas
And in our main kitchen area, just a few holiday additions make this kitchen feel cozy, warm and inviting for Christmas.
I draped a faux garland across the middle shelf, added some twinkle lights to the counters and plopped a few more gingerbread houses in the sugar canisters. The rest of the decor has stayed the same.
One of my favorite things that I did this year, is to add a tabletop tree to our kitchen counter. The twinkle lights make it feel extra cozy, especially at night!
I placed the tree in a vintage silver champagne bucket, which feels fitting since it is on our kitchen counter. And, the holidays mean it’s champagne season, right?!
I left this tree unadorned, just the green tree and some lights are all that’s needed to make this cozy Christmas kitchen feel ready for the season!
5 Ways To Tastefully Decorate Your Kitchen For Christmas
When I decorate my kitchen for the holidays I don’t like to go overboard. There’s nothing worse than having your kitchen feel cluttered and messy. So, less is more when it comes to this room in the home. You don’t need much to add a dose of Christmas.
Here are some simple ways you can add bit of holiday cheer to your kitchen:
1. ADD SOME TWINKLE LIGHTS
A few twinkle lights added to a shelf, above your cabinets or against your backsplash adds instant cozy charm to your Christmas kitchen. Less is more in this case, so don’t go crazy 😉
2. CHRISTMAS TREES
Whether real or fake, a tabletop Christmas tree is one of my favorite things to add to your kitchen to really make it feel like the holidays. I even love the Rosemary trees that Trader Joe’s sells this time of year. Functional and pretty too!
3. USE SEASONAL DISHES AS DECOR
I love to bring out our holiday plates when December rolls around. And placing a stack of them on your counter, island or open shelving is the perfect holiday decoration.
4. GREENERY AND GARLAND
Greenery, whether real or fake, is so beautiful when added to your kitchen. I love to drape it over the door casing that leads in to our kitchen. Or you can simply add it to your shelves or buffet as well.
5. CHANGE OUT YOUR DISH TOWELS
Decorating for Christmas in the kitchen can be as simple as adding fun themed tea towel. And you can stop there or if you’re like me, I swap out my regular dish towels for seasonal ones. My favorites are from Williams-Sonoma.
Just a few little additions to our cozy kitchen for Christmas. Twinkle lights really do work all the magic and make this space feel warm and inviting during these colder winter months.
