Black & White Neutral Halloween Mantel
October is here! The month that kicks off the festive season ahead! Halloween will be here before we know it and then we jump right into the holiday season filled with friends, family and cozy gatherings! This really is my favorite time of year.

My kids say their second favorite holiday is Halloween (the first being Christmas, of course). They love the fun surrounding the holiday and it is such a blessing to relive the holidays through your children’s eyes. They have been chomping at the bit to start decorating for Halloween.
My black & white neutral halloween mantel
This past weekend I had a chance to switch things up on my mantel for Halloween. With one hour to spare, a dead tree branch from the yard and a $10 string of lights from Target, I created this black & white neutral Halloween mantel. What do you think?
Do you buy new decor each year for the holidays? Or do you reuse what you have? If you’re like me, you fall somewhere in between. While I’d love to get all new things each year, we don’t have the storage or the budget.
I find myself maybe picking up a few new things if I know they will go with what I already have. But, this year the only thing new I purchased for this black and white neutral halloween mantel was a $10 string of bulbs from Target. Everything else was reused and repurposed.
My Halloween Decorating Style
One of my favorite things to do is to take the decorations that I already have and try and use them in a new way. Something I haven’t ever tried before. This is a challenge, but a fun and creative one!
So, take what you have and rather than put it out each year in the same spot, try something new! Rearrange, repurpose and reinvent the items you already own.
And mix in items that aren’t necessarily for the holiday. For this neutral halloween mantel, I repurposed my vintage champagne bucket to hold the tree branches. I love the antique spin it gives this vignette.
