I was browsing the Dollar Spot at Target the other day and they had the cutest paper bat cutouts for $3!
Remember last year when Instagram was taken over by these cute little bats? It seems they graced every shiplap covered wall on social media.
You can check out my Modern Farmhouse Halloween Home Tour for my spin on the trend.
Well, I still love the look of the stark black bats set against an all white background. So, I decided to turn these dollar section bats into a cute and easy DIY Halloween door garland!
DIY Halloween Door Garland Idea
We just recently painted our house white. I have been wanting to do this for years and our house was finally due for a fresh coat of paint. I’m loving the crisp clean look of the white contrasted by the black shutters.
So, when I was at Target browsing their dollar section and saw these bat cutouts for $3 I was so excited! I knew they would be so cute on my newly painted house!
This DIY Halloween door garland only used about 13 of the bats so I have grander plans for the rest of them that were in the pack. Stay tuned!

Assembling Your Bat Garland
Ok, now on to the fun and easy part. Let’s talk about how to make this DIY Halloween door garland.
The first step is to punch holes in the bat wings. Choose the top corners so the bats will hang easily.
If you want to add dimension to your bats, you can fold their wings to look like they are flying.
Next you will string the bats using twine. I had some black and white bakers twine, so I used this but you could use any yarn or string that you have.
To make this step easier, you can wrap a piece of tape at the end of the string. This makes stringing through the hole much easier.
Space the bats as far apart as you would like and be sure to leave some excess at the end for hanging.
Simple, easy and cute halloween decorations for less than $5!
