Peony season is here! I am so excited. I got my first bundle of peonies from Trader Joes this past week! Hallelujah. And while I would love to fill the basket on my front porch with fresh peonies, sadly they wouldn’t last long. So, I decided to come up with this fun peony filled hanging basket wreath for summer! I will show you how easy it is to assemble this front door wreath that will last all summer long!

How To Make A Peony Wreath for Summer
I have had this hanging basket from Target since before Christmas. I knew it would make the cutest decoration for my front door! It just took awhile to get to making it, lol! Do you have one of these Target baskets too? I will show you how easy it is to turn it into a cute peony wreath perfect for summer!
Supplies for making your own Hanging Basket Wreath:
For this summer peony wreath you will need the following supplies:
- hanging Basket
- faux peony stems
- wire cutters
- floral or craft wire
- faux fern greenery
- ribbon (optional)
I found my peony stems on Amazon and at my local craft store. I have linked the supplies here for you.
Peony Basket Wreath Instructions
To make this fun summer wreath, gather together your supplies. Start by cutting your peony stems to the desired length to fit into you hanging basket. Arranging the flowers in your basket is much like floral arranging. If you want to see a great tutorial, check out my Grocery Store Flower Arrangement post for a video documenting the process!
You want to start with the larger blooms first. Place those in first and start filling up the basket. Next, layer in the smaller flowers to fill in the spaces. Now, I didn’t use anything in the bottom of the basket to hold the flowers in place, but you could use floral foam or styrofoam to hold the arrangement more securely. It is also a good idea to use floral wire to tie stems together to hold into place.
After you have filled the basket with the peonies, add some touches of greenery. I love this trailing fern vine. I simply tucked the stem into the basket below the flowers, and secured with some craft wire. And I added a stem of faux ivy at the top to add a bit of height.
The finishing touch was to add a ribbon to the front of the hanging basket. Totally optional, but I like the pop of black and white that it adds to this summer peony wreath.
This hanging basket turned out so cute, don’t you think?! I love it even placed on a wall to add a pop of color to an indoor room for summer.
